• Defined as lymphoma with same cellular population as grade 1 or 2 follicular lymphoma but lacking a follicular pattern
  • Diffuse grade 3 lymphoma is designated diffuse large B cell lymphoma
• Same phenotype as follicular lymphoma
• If focal follicular areas are present, designate as follicular lymphoma with diffuse areas or as follicular and diffuse lymphoma
• Diffuse grade 1 lymphoma should be distinguished from mantle cell lymphoma on cytologic and immunologic grounds
