Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis
Clinical
- Most cases 20-50 years old
- Rare pediatric cases
- Chronic disease with gradual onset of dyspnea
- Many patients asymptomatic at time of diagnosis
- Most patients are smokers
- Good response to total lung lavage
- Trials of GMCSF injection show promise
- Steroids are contraindicated
